Haryana CM Addresses Communal Clashes: A Tale of Perplexity and Burstiness
In a press conference, the esteemed Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, tackled the recent communal clashes that engulfed Nuh district, leaving six lives lost and several establishments in ashes. The violence exacted a heavy toll, with six people, including two police officials, losing their lives. To quell the chaos, 116 individuals were arrested, and 190 were detained for their involvement.
The state government, recognizing the loss suffered by the police officials’ families, offered a compensation of Rs 57 lakh. However, the situation differed when it came to the loss of private property. Chief Minister Khattar clarified that the government would compensate for damage to public property, but those responsible for the damage to private property would be held liable.
As the investigation unfolds, officials are analyzing call records and CCTV footage to ascertain the root cause of the large-scale violence. One possible trigger being explored is the alleged participation of Monu Manesar, a notorious cow vigilante previously involved in the murder of two Muslim men in Bhiwani district.
Khattar emphasized that the case involving Monu Manesar was under the jurisdiction of the Rajasthan Police, but he acknowledged the existing concerns over “cow protection” in Nuh and urged all communities to work together for the safeguarding of cattle.
To delve deeper into the matter, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be established to probe the communal violence and investigate the role of Bajrang Dal member Monu Manesar in the clashes. State Police Chief PK Agrawal assured the public that the situation was under control, and curfew restrictions in Nuh had been temporarily eased. He urged strict compliance with administration orders, with senior officers deployed to maintain order.
